“Hong Kong Never Normal” is a ground-up, private sector collaboration created by TBWA Hong Kong to celebrate Hong Kong’s irreplicable spirit with a fresh perspective.
Is Hong Kong back to normal? It’s a question that continues to be asked. It assumes that the city has not been itself in recent years. But Hong Kong has always been full of vibrancy, with unique quirks and idiosyncrasies that gives the city its soul. The truth is, Hong Kong has never really been normal.
Normal is unremarkable, ordinary and boring. Hong Kong is anything but. Unique and unconventional, certainly, but normal, never. To suggest otherwise would be to overlook the energy, entrepreneurism and creativity of Hong Kong and its people: the blood, sweat, smiles and tears; the real stories that make Hong Kong so extraordinary.
Big and small brands, content creators, and influencers with roots in Hong Kong have come together to tell authentic “never normal” stories around people, places, culture, lifestyle and brands. This includes shining a light on some of the smaller businesses that embody Hong Kong’s Never Normal spirit.
Through this initiative, we hope to uplift local morale and pride, and share a fresh perspective to those viewing Hong Kong from the outside.
